The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse is also known as the “Castle of the Straits”. It marks the junction of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. From 1892 until 1957, the lighthouse helped ships navigate the perilous waters of the Straits of Mackinac.
Pere Marquette Beach was the scene for Lakeshore Brewers Guild’s 3rd Annual Burning Foot Beer Festival and it was the place to be in Michigan on August 26th.
The Canyon Falls trail along the Sturgeon River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has been dubbed “Michigan’s Grand Canyon.” It is 15 miles south of L’Anse, Michigan on US 41. There is plenty of parking at the roadside park. Blue slashes along the trail mark the North Country Trail.
