In late 2023, we embarked on a journey exploring the world of Michigan hard cider. Our mission: learn how to entice beer enthusiasts with the unique offerings of hard cider. Our first stop was with Paula Englin, the newly appointed Michigan Cider Association Executive Director. And boy, did she enlighten us about the distinctive aspects of Michigan’s Hard Cider Industry–from the artisanal appeal to discovering the perfect hard cider. 

Our exploration didn’t end there; we also made a point to visit several of Michigan’s Hard Cider Producers. Naturally, we indulged in tasting the cider ourselves. At each stop on our cider odyssey, we were greeted with a myriad of unique cider options. 

Exploring Michigan Hard Cider

Knights of the Hard Cider Round Table has to be Barrel + Beam in Marquette. Yes, it is over the bridge and through the woods, but so worth the drive. Pomme is their session strength cider, made from a blend of Ida Red, Cortland, and Mcintosh apples.
