Our chant, “Open, Open, Open” kept time with the sleet hitting the windshield while we waited in the car for the for Lake Ann Brewing Company to open. Our chant worked! Not only did the doors open but we got a very special treat. 

Mother Nature tried to rain on our parade, so we made the best of it by seeking fine Michigan beers in the Leelanau peninsula.

The Iron Fish Distillery Tours are a bargain at $10 a person. Not only do you get a history lesson, a demonstration of their soil-to-spirit process, and a guided tasting of their fine spirits but also a motivational experience.

We hit the ground running to explore the magical city of Edinburgh with our new friend Miles from Guided Scotland.

Our road trip through the Cairngorms National Park opens in St. Andrews and ends with a selfie in front of the Royal Family’s Scottish home. Sandwiched in the middle we explored Dunnottar and Balvenie Castles and the Elgin Cathedral.  

Our hiking adventures in the Cairngorms and Glen Coe were even sweeter with the help of Murray and Allan from Kingdom Guides.

We visited Scotland’s Orkney Mainland in search of Neolithic tombs, prehistoric monuments, Viking graffiti, Highland coos, Holy Relics, Scotch and maybe a sheep or two. We were not disappointed. 

We set out on Record Store Day to explore some of the independent vendors across Michigan who help us find those joyous vinyl treasures.
