Three reasons why the DIYpsi Indie Art Fair is the perfect shopping experience. First, it is at Arbor Brewing so you can drink delicious craft beer while chatting with artists. Second, all the crafts are handmade by local artists. And third, well because it was fun and it is in Ypsilanti and who doesn’t love saying I’m going to Ypsi for beer and art!
The DIYpsi Indie Art Fair has been a thing since 2010 and I finally went on Sunday, August 9th. Apparently Chuck snuck over without me one year because he claimed he’s gone to it before. Anyway, we went this year (together!) and Chuck had his camera and took lots of pictures. You can find the full set in the gallery. If you missed it don’t worry, it is an annual thing, but you should put the Detroit Urban Craft Fair on your calendar if you have an art itch that needs scratching. It is run by Handmade Detroit and held in the Masonic Temple just before Christmas. We went last year and found many Christmas gifts.
Here a few of my favorite artists!
DIYpsi Art Review
Tree Trunk Arts
Tree Trunk Arts caught my eye right out of the gate. I bought a super cute ring.
Paintings by Jason Gibner
Chuck bought a happy hot dog from Jason Gibner. He took it too work so all his co-workers could enjoy.
Oh Sew Betty
I bought TWO purses from Oh Sew Betty. Oh, she can Sew!
Huron Guitars
We were especially delighted to find Huron Guitars. All the instruments are handmade and Huron Guitars’ owner, Luke. He works with the musician to create a unique guitar that fits their personality and style.
The Foraging Florist
We were super surprised to find the Foraging Florist. You can’t help smiling when you meet Andy. His smile and passion for nature, plants and is infectious.
Gingerly Made
Chuck couldn’t resist Leslie Gauthier’s tiny art. We have a tiny Dino in our living room. Leslie is an illustrator working out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. All her art is Gingerly made or lovingly painted or stitched by Leslie.
Ypsilanti Water Tower Candle
I considered buying a Ypsilanit Water Tower Candle but wasn’t sure it would fit with my decor. There was something for everyone at the DIYPSI Indie Art Fair.
Ambitstudio
The Ambitstudio makes unique analog sound machines. It is easier to show you than explain.
Tiny Angry Men
Cre Fuller builds robots from old stuff and the results are magical. I definitely need to get one.
Courtney Fischer Jewelry
I have several of Courtney’s earrings. I bought several pair at the Detroit Urban Craft Fair last year. I love them! They are my favorite earrings.
Pyro Art Glass Studio
Out of Mount Clemens, Michigan is Pyro. They make handmade glassware. It was absolutely beautiful!
