Redline Brewing in Burton, Michigan was the spot last weekend for raging iron machines and sweet art work at the DedRabbits Lowbrow Art Show and Hot Rod Shakedown.
DedRabbits Lowbrow Art Show and Hot Rod Shakedown
The onset of warm weather spawns art and car shows across the state. In addition to making some outstanding beers, Redline Brewing in Burton celebrates the passion of fast machines and the need for speed. Our friend and ultra-talented artist, Robert “Nix” Nixon was displaying some of his masterpieces at the DedRabbits Lowbrow Art Show and Hot Rod Shakedown. We figured this would be a good time to say hello to Nix, enjoy some Redline beer, and check out some Detroit iron.
Redline Brewing
Redline Brewing is located at 6014 Lapeer Road in Burton, Michigan. The pub has a clubhouse feel with a motorcycle and racing theme. You can’t help but love the Evel Knievel poster. The guys behind the bar were very friendly and happy to answer any questions or offer up suggestions. The beers were top notch. The Hatchback IPA kept us happy as we perused the show.
Tons of Lowbrow Art
Inside the brewpub was a ton of art. Pottery, posters, prints, custom painted skateboard decks, you name it. Each piece had that lowbrow infusion of comics with a punk / rockabilly flare. The side room featured the art of Nix as well as Stephen Vincent, who designed the show’s poster.
Outside, the Redline parking lot was filled with a variety of mean machines and more artwork. A tent was set up to demonstrate hand lettering and striping. Outside the tent and along the street side of the brewery were tables packed with creativity.
Hot Rods
The cars and bikes were vintage and savage. The parking lot around Redline was filled up with overflow across the street. These vehicles celebrate the time when you didn’t need a computer and a degree in origami to wrench on an engine. I’m far from mechanical, but I definitely can appreciate the beauty and power of these machines.
The DedRabbits Lowbrow Art show and Hot Rod Shakedown was a good time. We didn’t get a chance to stay later to catch the kickass music of the Devil’s Cut. I’m sure they fit the show like a glove. If you are looking for a new brewery to put on your explorers map, be sure to hit up Redline Brewing.
