Rolling Sculpture Car Show

The Rolling Sculpture Car Show takes place each year on the Friday before the Ann Arbor Art Fairs. This year was the 20th anniversary of the event and was hosted by the Main Street Area Association and  Bill Crispin Chevrolet.  Main Street between Huron and William with off shoots on Liberty and Washington become a show room for a wide array of cars and trucks. The event is open to anyone that wants to show off their car. Registration for your ride is $20.  There is no charge for the rest of us that want to look at some hot wheels.

Automobiles as Art

I am by no means a mechanical guy (just ask Brenda), but I do enjoy looking at cars. Especially the old muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s.

You can see where a car can be a work of art. While functional, there is a beauty in the flowing lines.

Ok, not every car at the Rolling Sculpture Car Show looks sharp as hell. However, this baby reminds me of my childhood. My mom always had a station wagon when we were little kids. The rear facing window was the best place to sit. Except when the floor board was rusted out and the exhaust was seeping in…”Mom, my head feels funny!” Oh the memories.

A Labor of Love

When I look at the older cars, I can’t help but be impressed. Hours and hours of work to rebuild and restore these fine machines into exquisite works of art. A true labor of love.
